Roma Tipped to Renew Efforts to Sign Sassuolo Starlet

Roma will attempt to onboard their long-standing attempts Davide Frattesi in January. Sassuolo don’t appear willing to part ways with cornerstones during the winter, but that won’t preclude the Giallorossi from trying.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the two sides last talked ten days ago, as the Emilian club is interested in Edoardo Bove. He could indeed transfer, but only with a buy-back clause. In addition, even though he has seen limited minutes, José Mourinho would want a replacement to avoid gutting their depth.

Roma could easily include the youngster as part of the package to sign Frattesi. His valuation is high, €30/35M, but they have ammo at their disposal. First of all, he’s eager to join them, and they have a 30 percent discount on the fee thanks to a previous sell-on clause.

The Giallorossi need to offload somebody before being able to make an addition. They are waiting for credible offers for Eldor Shomurodov and Rick Karsdorp. If they collected over €10M, it could be enough to unlock the arrival of the Sassuolo star. He would transfer on loan with obligation to buy in their plans.

Our Take on Roma and Frattesi

These rumors are popping up daily, and somebody must be stoking them. The main suspect is the player’s agent. The capital team surely has the inside track given the situation, and their chase will probably come to fruition either in January or the summer.

It’s interesting that they are pushing for a midfielder with these traits since they already have Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Georginio Wijnaldum should return fairly soon. Mourinho might be cooking up a switch to a three-man midfielder; otherwise, they’d have overlapping skillsets in the role.
