Bologna concluded their summer transfer market with the latest departure of Musa Barrow to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Taawoun. Although the Rossoblù recorded a negative transfer balance of €15.5M, they successfully managed to cut down their wages by a whopping €7M, which now marks the dawn of a positive financial scenario for the club.
Bologna rid themselves of several big names, seven to be precise, helping themselves drastically cut down on their overall wage package. The list was capped by Marko Arnautovic’s departure to Inter on a loan fee, with the Nerazzurri now bearing all of his €3M net per annum salary. Following the Austrian were the exits of Gary Medel, Nicolas Dominguez, Barrow, Nicola Sansone, and Roberto Soriano – all with a salary circa the €1M mark.
The departure of the aforementioned players, most of who were senior, significantly boils down Bologna’s salary expenses. In turn, the club has now invested in younger prospects such as Dan Ndoye, Oussama El Azzouzi, and Giovanni Fabbian.
Recently, sporting director Giovanni Sartori expressed his satisfaction at Bologna’s market maneuvers. As per Corriere dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), Remo Freuler and Alexis Saelemaekers are the only two arrivals with a package above €1M.
